A home shaped by instinct and intention, this space was designed with a deep appreciation for natural materials, thoughtful reuse, and slow living. Inspired by the warmth of Mediterranean homes and the earthy textures of Moroccan interiors, the homeowners were drawn to finishes that age gracefully while reducing their environmental impact.

The layout was opened up to encourage airflow, light, and everyday connection, where mornings begin with coffee and conversations move easily between the kitchen and living area. At the entrance, a brick wall from “Loqa”, a circular material design studio, filters light and breeze into the home, softening the transition between indoors and out while giving discarded materials a second life.
Hands on from the start, the homeowners painted the limewashed walls themselves using a natural mineral based finish free from synthetic chemicals and low in VOCs. Beyond its textured appearance, limewash allows walls to breathe naturally while offering a more environmentally conscious alternative to conventional paint finishes. Each floor tile was laid by hand, while collected pieces, from custom lamps to a Moroccan sink, were chosen slowly over time rather than all at once.
Plants were thoughtfully incorporated throughout the home, bringing life, shade, and a closer connection to nature into the everyday living experience. More than decoration, they became part of the atmosphere itself.

What emerged was not a perfectly polished home, but one grounded in care, craftsmanship, and conscious choices, a space that continues to evolve with every object, every plant, and every memory added along the way.

"We worked with Intheory on our home renovation, and our experience with them was nothing short of wonderful from start to finish. Our home has exceeded our expectations in every way, both aesthetically and functionally, and we could not be happier with how it turned out.

We first came across Intheory during the initial shortlisting stage when we were speaking to different interior designers. What immediately stood out was how much attention they paid to the details we shared. They took the time to really understand our mood board, the colours and textures we liked, and importantly, how we wanted the space to function. They were also the only ID at that stage who went the extra mile to create an initial render based on what we had shared with them. It was clear from the beginning that they understood our vision and were willing to put in the effort to bring it to life.

When they presented their proposal, they also went through the quotation with us line by line, making sure we understood exactly where our money was going and what each item covered. What we appreciated most was how committed they were to working within our budget, something we found was quite different from our experience with some of the other IDs we spoke to. Rather than simply telling us that something was not possible within our budget, Intheory would take the time to source alternatives and come up with different ways to achieve the look we wanted without compromising our budget. We could see how much time and effort they put into researching, sourcing and suggesting options for us, and we really appreciated that. They also gave us the flexibility to take on certain things ourselves, such as lime-washing the house and wrapping the beams, which allowed us to save on costs while still achieving the look we wanted.

During the renovation itself, Intheory was incredibly hands-on. Whenever unexpected issues came up, they would think creatively and proactively about how to work around them while staying as close as possible to our original vision. They constantly went the extra mile to make sure the design we had envisioned actually materialised in reality. They also kept us regularly updated on the progress of the site and the renovation timeline, and were very organised in coordinating with the contractors. Whenever something needed to be redone or reworked, they would step in promptly and make sure it was addressed. They even helped expedite the renovation where possible so that we could move into our home according to our timeline, which we were extremely grateful for.

Another thing we particularly appreciated was how much thought Intheory put into the functionality of the home. They did not just focus on how things looked; they genuinely thought about how we would live in the space. They asked thoughtful questions about where things should go, how we would use different areas of the house, and how the orientation and layout would work for us in the long term. There were many small details that we would never have thought about ourselves, but Intheory brought them up during the design process. Having now lived in the house for a year, we appreciate these details even more as we can see how much their forward-thinking and planning have contributed to making the house comfortable and practical to live in. We are incredibly happy with both the aesthetics and functionality of the house, and we truly appreciate not only Intheory's design decisions, but also the quality of the workmanship they ensured.
