Our clients are a young couple who both work for an airline. Their lives move between time zones and airports, often apart for weeks at a time. When they finally come home, they wanted a space that felt grounded, warm, and truly theirs.
They often spoke about a trip to Japan that left a lasting impression, remembered for its sense of calm and simplicity. Inspired by that memory, the home was shaped with dark wood, soft lighting, and textured finishes that capture the feeling of a quiet evening abroad.
In the living room, a matching pair of their luggages was repurposed as side tables, a small reminder of how they met and the rhythm of their shared journeys. Behind the coffee bar, a feature wall was hand textured with wave patterns inspired by Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa. The flowing lines reflect their way of life, always moving yet always finding their way back home.
Matte carpentry and honed marble keep the darker palette easy to maintain and comfortable to live in.
This home is not about perfection but about belonging. A space that waits, and always welcomes them back.
